Judging by the other expressions from this estate-produced brand, it improves the longer it's aged. In this case, the spirit is aged for one year, yielding a barely perceptible straw color and an earthy, slightly vegetal, slightly sweet scent. The flavor leads with a sweet sugar cane note, but it also has a brisk smokiness, like mescal, on the finish. — Kara Newman, Wine Enthusiast

Cachaça and Guaro is Brazil’s and Central America’s equivalent to Rum. However, where Rum is mainly made of molasses, a by-product of sugar cane refineries, Cachaça and Guaro’s base ingredient is fresh sugarcane juice. Brazil is where all Cachaça is produced and where most (except 1%) is consumed. Neighboring country, Columbia produces Aguardiente and much of Central America produces the same type of spirit and goes by the name Guaro.

Very interesting and very different! An interesting variant on rum in mixed drinks. I like it better with lime juice rather than macerated lime quarters, but brings back great memories of Brazil!
