Terre Rouge Syrah Les Cotes de l'Ouest - 2018 (750ml)
Terre Rouge Syrah Les Cotes de l'Ouest - 2018 (750ml)
These vines are cultivated west (ouest) of our winery on small, sandy loam hills (côtes) just outside the Amador County appellation, a few miles from the Mokelumne River. In the tradition of our other Syrahs, this wine has great flavor intensity and mouthfeel. It is made with the current enjoyment in mind, rather than longevity. Our popular Syrah for every day pleasure is also a big hit in wine bars and restaurants across the US, Canada and England. This Syrah, from the "western slopes of the Sierra" is a wine that everyone can afford to drink and enjoy. We blend about 60% of grapes from our lowest elevations with 40% from our highest vineyards to create a lovely, balanced Syrah.
This dense, concentrated and firmly tannic wine offers pure fruit flavors without a lot of obvious oak spices, so it delivers blackberries, blueberries and dark chocolate from first whiff to lingering finish. While delicious, it's also rather tight in texture and will certainly improve through 2028. — Jim Gordon
Dark and still lively in color, vibrant aromas of black fruits and a savory edge freshened by the addition of 4% Viognier. The palate feel is complex, complete, and savory with a fine grain and very long length. Outrageous value here for a wine entering its peak drinking
