Paolo Scavino Barolo riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata - 2008 (750ml)
From a parcel purchased in 1990 with old vines, the 2008 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell’Annunziata shows a budding sense of maturity and profound beauty. The color is bright and vibrant with brilliant ruby and garnet highlights. The mouthfeel is silky, tight and extremely fine. The wine is dinking beautifully right now and shows the untapped potential of the often-overlooked 2008 vintage. Wines from La Morra usually offer sweeter tannins, and you can feel that here. Drink: 2016-2028. - Monica Larner
Marked by beautiful fruit and alluring aromas of black cherry, black currant, violet, spice, tar and tobacco, this holds plenty in reserve. The tannins are dense and assertive, though the lasting impression is one of sweet fruit and elegance. Fine length. Best from 2017 through 2033. - Bruce Sanderson
Perfumed with layers of violet, rose, leather, ripe black fruit, thyme and mint sensations, this structured yet graceful wine shows youthful tension and energy. The delicious palate delivers crushed black cherry, black pepper, cinnamon, mocha, black tea and tobacco alongside smooth, velvety tannins. Give it time to develop fully. Drink 2018–2038. — Kerin O’Keefe
