The vineyard soils where this rose comes from are dominated by the Wilson Grove formation, a sandstone ridge that used to be beachfront property 3 to 5 million years ago. This fine-grained, marine sandstone yields the locally famous Goldridge-Sebastopol sandy loam soils. These influences combine to create a classic Burgundian terroir in the Russian River Valley.

This is the 2018 vintage, and while the wine has naturally softened with age and isn't as vibrantly fruity as it once was, it remains entirely enjoyable with fresh acidity and excellent drinkability. At under $5 per bottle in the case, it's an exceptional value that's hard to beat.

About Fog Crest Vineyard

Every bottle of Fog Crest Vineyard Rosé begins in one of the Russian River Valley's most distinctive vineyard sites. The vines are rooted in ancient Goldridge-Sebastopol sandy loam, formed from marine sandstone that was once a California coastline 3 to 5 million years ago. Combined with the region's cool morning fog and warm afternoons, these soils create a Burgundian-style terroir that produces wines with exceptional freshness, balance, and elegance.

Fog Crest Vineyard is also the story of founder Rosalind Manoogian. In 1998, she traded city life for a neglected 30-acre apple orchard in Sonoma County with a vision of building something extraordinary. What began as a plan to grow grapes soon became a passion for winemaking. After years of studying the Russian River Valley's unique terroir and refining her craft, Fog Crest released its first vintage in 2005.

Today, Fog Crest is Sonoma County's only Black, woman-owned and -operated winery. Rosalind's dedication has transformed a forgotten orchard into a celebrated vineyard producing elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rosé that reflect both the character of the land and the perseverance behind every bottle.
