Easton Zinfandel Rinaldi Vyd Fiddletown - 2017 (750ml)

The Rinaldi Vineyard in Fiddletown is one of the oldest in the state, dating back to 1866. The EASTON Fiddletown Zinfandel, Old Vine is always 100% Zinfandel from the Rinaldi Vineyard. We approach making the wine from this vineyard in much the same way a good winemaker would approach a grand cru vineyard in Burgundy. We want to reveal what the fruit has to offer each year in all of its purity, not obscure it.

Earthy, mineral aromas and concentrated, nervy but ripe fruit flavors merge in this full-bodied, firmly textured and moderately tannic wine. Elements of dried herbs and river rocks accent deep wild-berry and roasted plum notes. Best from 2024. — Jim Gordon

We've been told by the winery rep that this always seems more like Amarone than Zin, mostly due to the concentration and intensity from these very old vines.  Aromas of fresh red strawberry and deep balsamic notes on the nose and then a deep, super long and savory palate with plenty of grip that could continue to repay cellaring.
