Maybe the most compelling wine we've tasted this year. Produced in Crete from very old vines of Leatiko grapes. This iconic red wine is only made in the best vintages and then only released when the winemaker believes the wine is ready to drink.
This wine starts with a pale, orange-brick color. The nose is very complex with crushed red fruits, floral/rose, damp stone/mineral aromas and more. The palate is elegant, offering both a freshness and energy as well as noticeable tannins which have supported this wine's aging until this beautiful moment.

One of the more commercially important indigenous Greek varieties, it can exhibit a wide range of characteristics, from soft to very tannic, depending on factors in the growing and winemaking processes. The grape is typically made as a varietal, though it is notably blended with Cabernet Sauvignon in the area around Metsovo to make the table wine traditionally called katoi. The wines are known for their high level of fruitiness but tend to have very little acidity and light body. After Xynomavro, it is Greece's second most widely planted grape variety.

Red wine is wine made from dark-coloured grape varieties. The color of red differs based on the grapes variety or varieties used.Interestingly, black grapes yield a juice that is greenish-white. The actual red color comes from anthocyan pigments (also called anthocyanins) from the skin of the grape (exceptions are the relatively uncommon teinturier varieties, which produce a red colored juice). Most of the production centers around the extraction of color and flavor from the grape skin.
