The intense pink color is characteristic of a great Tavel. Aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, and pomegranate share the glass with peppery notes. The wine is balanced and flavorful, and the finish is long. It is a gastronomic rosé that pairs with every part of the meal from aperitif through dessert.
This rosé is sultry in every sense of the word. Lovely, bready aromas of strawberry-rhubarb tart charm the nose accompanied by rosehip and a smattering of bruised red cherry blossom. The palate is fulsome with a restrained, well-integrated fruit core that draws you in and persuades another glass. — Anna-Christina Cabrales

The Rhone is one of France’s most important wine regions. Divided into two separate zones, the north is probably the most prestigious. It is home to the appellations of Condrieu, Côte Rôtie, St. Joseph, Hermitage, and Crozes-Hermitage. Syrah is king with the exception of the Condrieu (100% Viognier) and Hermitage, which also makes big whites from Marsanne and Roussanne. The South is a much larger region where most Cotes du Rhone and Cotes du Rhone Village come from. In the villages of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Rasteau, Syrah is blended in varying proportions with Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsaut, and a host of obscure varieties such as Muscardin, Vaccarese, Terret and Counoise, to produce full-bodied reds brimming with energy.
Tavel is a wine-growing Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the southern Rhône wine region of France, across the Rhône River from Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC and just north of Avignon. Tavel wines are all rosé wines and must have a minimum alcohol content of 11%. The 933 hectares produce an average yield of 42 hectolitres per hectare The vineyards are located in the commune of Tavel only.
