Bodega Aleanna 'El Enemigo' Semillon-2021 (750ml)
Bodega Aleanna 'El Enemigo' Semillon-2021 (750ml)
The 2021 Sémillon comes from a high-density vineyard in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. It aged for 15 months in used French oak barrels, 35% with a delicate veil of flor. Yellow in the glass with a golden sheen. The nose presents inviting honey, chamomile, cashew and hazelnut aromas against a creamed corn backdrop. The palate has a dry, compact character with a freshness provided by the flor contrasting the grape's natural volume. Ends with a nuanced finish of oak and nut. - Joaquin Hidalgo
An exotic yet serious nose that borders on tropical with green mango, papaya, salted lemon, minerals and a touch of cream. Broad on the palate with fresh but supple acidity and a tangy finish, full of almonds and a hint of bitter herbs. Deliciously phenolic and structured. Drink or hold.
94 points Patricio Tapia - Descorchados
From a vineyard in the Agrelo zone of the Luján de Cuyo DOC and about 930 meters above sea level, at the beginning of the Andean foothills, 20% of this semillon was aged under a veil of flor (like the yellow wines from Jura) that winemaker Alejandro Vigil usually uses to give his whites a touch of complexity, that saline side of the flor. It's intense and honeyed, ample, juicy, and rich in ripe-fruit flavors with that touch of saline from the flor that appears toward the end of the palate.
