A pure expression of Sangiovese Grosso from southern Umbria, the 2015 Polvento benefits from this warm and sunny vintage, showing extra fruit intensity and depth of flavor. The wine smooths over the palate with dark berry fruit, wild cherry, rose, licorice and smoked spice, thanks to 24 months of barrique aging. This is an elegant, mid to full-bodied red to pair with savory porchetta with rosemary and fennel seeds. Some 10,000 bottles were made. Monica Larner
