Mostly Grechetto blended with Trebbiano and Procanico, the organic 2019 Orvieto Classico Superiore Luigi & Giovanna is a delight to drink. Umbria makes some terrific white wines, and this is one of them. You just want to bring a bottle to a terrace with a summer sunset. The wine's medium-bodied texture is rendered fresh and vibrant thanks to sweet peach, honey, apple and green melon. It feels fleshy and soft on the close, and bright acidity kicks in at the end. The 2019 Orvieto Classico Superiore Luigi e Giovanna lifts from the glass with a whimsical blend of crushed Granny Smith apples, white flowers and mint, nicely contrasted by a hint of iodine. It’s texturally rich with a pleasant inner sweetness, soothing the senses with notes of ripe Asian pear and gingery spice. This tapers off dry yet long, leaving pretty inner florals to mingle above nuances of candied lime.
