MEET THE FOUNDER

Marty Doerschlag, Founder of Flâneur Wines

Marty’s path to winemaking was anything but conventional.

Raised in Dublin, Ohio, Marty grew up surrounded by farms and developed an early appreciation for the rhythm and energy of agriculture. His passion for wine emerged through food, restaurants, and the community surrounding them, followed by transformative trips to Napa and Bordeaux.

After two decades building his family’s architecture and engineering business, Marty decided to pursue the things that had continued to inspire him: farming, history, architecture, wine, and bringing people together.

That vision led him to Oregon’s Willamette Valley in 2012 and ultimately to the creation of Flâneur Wines.

The name comes from the French concept of the flâneur—someone who slows down, observes, wanders, and takes the time to experience a place without an agenda. That spirit is central to Flâneur Wines.

Today, the winery farms organically, produces expressive wines from the Willamette Valley, and welcomes guests into its beautifully restored 100-year-old grain elevator.
