Parhelia Cask #7 Indonesia 9 year Rum 61.1% - 2015 (700ml)

This unique spirit was aged for 11 months in teak cask prior to moving to Ex-English Malt Whisky Cask for a further 8+ years of aging.

Importer's Tasting Notes:

This rum is extraordinarily expressive, and the alcohol is very well integrated, despite a lot of punch on the nose. Immediate notes of newly-cut tropical plant stems, mango, dragonfruit, and banana leaf, and rambutan, lychee, tea tree, and cassia oil jumping out for top notes with a touch of fermenting crabapple underneath. At the front of the palate, lemongrass and black peppercorn followed by Cassia and a new pimento wood carry through the mid palate into an almost fino sherry-like finish that brings some of those very old cognac tropical fruit notes that wrap up the experience with present but none-too-aggressive malt whisky wood tannins. This rum has vegetal and savory notes that are very distinct from those found in rhum agricole but carry a familiar experience to some of the better rhum agricoles on the market.
