Collection: Domaine Weinbach

Perhaps no estate (other than Deiss, Trimbach, or Zind-Humbrecht) has a longer legacy of promoting the great terroirs of Alsace than Domaine Weinbach. At the base of the Grand Cru Schlossberg, surrounded by vines and roses, Domain Weinbach was established as a winery in 1612 by Capuchin friars. Their vineyards, to this day surrounded by ancient walls, are specifically named Clos des Capucins and are home to some of the oldest vines in the region.

After being sold as national property during the French revolution, Domaine Weinbach was acquired by the Faller brothers in 1898 who then left it to their son and nephew, Théo. Théo Faller was a prominent figure in Alsace winegrowing and an ardent defender of quality wine production. In 1979, Colette -Théo’s wife-, Catherine, Laurence Faller and their team pursued the family’s passion for the great wines of Alsace and its unrelenting commitment to delivering excellence. Since 2016, Catherine has lead the estate winery with her sons, Eddy and Théo.

Crafting wines that express the uniqueness and diversity of Alsace's terroirs lies at the heart of Domaine Weinbach's approach to winemaking. This aim is inextricably linked with a commitment to biodynamics (circa 1998) in their vineyards and a minimal intervention approach in the cellar. All this to say, the wines are beautifully constructed from ancient vines of the noble grapes of Alsace—Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer—and offer a wide range of food and wine pairings.

"The wines of Domaine Weinbach offer infinite and captivating choices in their culinary pairing options. The cuvées Théo, Colette, Laurence, and Sainte Catherine carry the names of the Faller family members. These cuvees correspond with precise selections within plots on different terroirs.

Our Réserve wines are the reflection of our passion; they offer a large range of flavours and sensations. Essentially produced on the plots which surround our property, they are mostly of old vines, planted by Théo Faller himself. With the freshness and the complexity of our Muscat, the gourmet of our Pinot Gris, the elegance of our Sylvaner and the balance of our Pinot Blanc, embark on a journey through a range which can be tasted without restraint.

All of our wines carrying the name of Cuvée (Théo, Colette, Ste Catherine and Laurence), Terroirs (Clos des Capucins and Altenbourg) or Grand Cru (Schlossberg, Furstentum, Mambourg and Marckrain) originate from plot selections, to express the diversity of our soils and the richness of our terroirs at best. Our working of the soils, our viticulture and our vinifications are adapted to each individual combination of variety-terroir-microclimate to perfectly reflect the identity of each location, always with balance and elegance, signature of Domaine Weinbach."
