Wines: Santa Cruz
The Valleys of Santa Cruz have currently only a few small wineries dedicated to the production of wine and singani for local consumption. The only exception is Uvairenda, producer of wines 1750, a small winery with a clear goal set for the production of quality wines.
The Valleys of Santa Cruz are located immediately to the Southwest of the Codo de los Andes between 18º and 19º of latitude south and consists of small vineyards under mountainous conditions. Currently there are up to 500 ha planted but there is a potential to plant as many as 10,000 has especially in Vallegrande. Various research plots were planted to evaluate the adaptation of several varieties to the soils and climate of the region. In time, due to the proximity to Santa Cruz, the largest city of Bolivia and with the fastest growth rate, large investments are expected to appear in new vineyards and the construction of modern wineries.
