Spicy bramble berry, blood orange and violet start off this fresh, focused red. The palate is medium in weight and juicy in flavors of tart cherry and red plum. Acidity is the main driver here, but a firm frame of tannins lends support, yielding a polished, delicious outcome. - Alexander Peartree
This 2017 vintage earned the prestigious "Tre Biccieri" from the Italian publication Gambero Rosso.

Like Zinfandel, a descendant of Croatia's Crljenak Kaštelanski, Primitivo is mostly grown in the southern Italian province of Puglia. Since it's links relating it to California's Zinfandel surfaced, plantings have increased significantly. Primitivo is more rustic in character - albeit in a charming way- when compared to its trans-Atlantic cousin. However, it is similarly capable of producing high alcohol wines, easily reaching 16% alcohol.

Red wine is wine made from dark-coloured grape varieties. The color of red differs based on the grapes variety or varieties used.Interestingly, black grapes yield a juice that is greenish-white. The actual red color comes from anthocyan pigments (also called anthocyanins) from the skin of the grape (exceptions are the relatively uncommon teinturier varieties, which produce a red colored juice). Most of the production centers around the extraction of color and flavor from the grape skin.
