Wines: IGP Côtes de Thau

Côtes de Thau is an IGP title covering wines produced along the shores of the Étang de Thau lagoon in the Hérault administrative department of eastern Languedoc. The IGP (with the previous Vin de Pays) is traditionally known for white wines, made primarily from Terret, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Grenache Blanc.

Rosé wines are being increasingly promoted, and are popular during tourist season. Some red wines are also made, featuring the traditional Mediterranean varieties of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah.
