(2015 vintage) "This blend is a classic. It was first made in the mid-1990s with a focus on grapes from Casablanca, and then the base was moved to Colchagua. Today, it’s 40% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, 24% carménère, 8% petit verdot, and the rest is cabernet franc. It’s a spicy, juicy wine that’s much fresher than it was 3 or 4 vintages ago, when it was more like some kind of chocolate. Not today. It has a lot to do with Veramonte’s pursuit of ripe fruit, but also to the reduction of new oak to 15% rather than the 30% they used 3 years ago.
