James Suckling

I've always liked this wine, sitting pretty as a double-fermented expression with a lighter framework of tannins melded to the density serviced by the double fermentation approach devised here: fresh wine re-fermented with 30% whole, semi-dried grapes. Notes of cherry amaro, porcini, lilac and riffs on the larger format wood, conferring an earthy breadth to the wine without detracting from freshness. Highly versatile and delicious. Drink now.

90 points Decanter World Wine Awards

Spicy nose displaying touches of coffee and liquorice under figs and ripe red fruit aromas. Elegant palate with chalky tannins.

Rich, smooth and velvety, yet approachable and versatile at table. Marrying simplicity and grace with strength and majesty. Born in 1964, Campofiorin is one of the world’s best-loved traditional Italian classics, internationally recognised as a ‘wine of stupendous size and complexity’, the creator of a new category of Veneto wines inspired by the Amarone technique (Burton Anderson).

With the 2020 vintage, a small stylistic evolution has been introduced: harvest is now delayed even further and there is an increase in the percentage of dried grapes to make the wine even more harmonious, well-rounded and full-bodied, with more integral fruitiness.
