The 2016 vintage was ideal, with a mild summer providing a steady growing season that rewarded us with superb wines, and the 2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was no exception. This exquisite 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of top organically farmed vineyard lots in the Napa Valley. This wine showcases ZD’s art of blending, using our own organically farmed Rutherford Estate as the backbone.

This release is the first Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon with the redesigned packaging in celebration of our 50th anniversary, and is in honor of our dedication to quality, consistency, and style.

Classic Cabernet aromas of cassis, blackberry, and plum intermingle with subtle hints of violet, anise, and sweet, toasty vanilla. The palate is loaded with fruit and lush, well-balanced tannins that carry the wine through to an incredibly long finish. Aged for three years in small American Oak cooperage, the wine has an added layer of complexity with well-integrated oak. This wine is showing wonderfully now but will also age beautifully with cellaring. Only 21 barrels of this wine were produced.
