Altanza Gran Reserva - 2015 (750ml)
96 Points Decanter
Beautiful and deep Gran Reserva. You can really taste the classicism here. Elegant texture. Well-integrated tannins, Lots of complexity and notes of roasted fruits, sweet spices, cigar box, dried herbs and sweet oak. Fresh acidity enlivens the vivid, spicy and impressively long finish.
93 Points Wine Enthusiasts
Dark ruby in the glass, this wine has a nose of dark plum and pomegranate. It feels well balanced across the palate, with mid-weight tannins, flavors of pomegranate, raspberry, milk chocolate, orange zest, toasted almond, and a bright finish.
92 Points James Suckling
Blueberries, fresh blackberries, orange peel, crushed stones and sweet spices follow through to a medium to full body that unleashes lots of succulent red-berry fruit with smoothly wound tannins. Bright acidity gives it a kick. Quite long and subtle. Vegan. Drink or hold.
Wine Notes
Bright cherry-red color. Great aromatic complexity due to its long ageing requirements. On the nose you find aromas of spices leading to a slight hint of leather with some smoky aromas. The influence of the oak is translated into notes of cocoa and coffee. The texture is powerful with enough acidity to tame it and balance it out. The tannis are smooth and the wine has a beautiful lingering finish. Super enjoyable! These guys do a fantastic job!
Gran Reserva wines typically appear in above average vintages with the red wines requiring at least 5 years aging, a minimum of 2 years in oak and a minimum of 3 years in the bottle.
