For this first release of our Exploratory Cask Finish Project, select barrels of seven-year-old American Rye Whiskey were finished in Curacao Casks, sourced from France, for approximately 90 days.
Color: Chestnut
Nose: Natural oak, spicy, earthy notes, and, after a little while in the glass, wonderful rich caramel notes
Palate: Plenty of citrus notes (particularly oranges!), maple syrup prevalent with lots of rye hanging out in the background. This Rye Whiskey contains both fruit and spice elements.
Finish: Herbal, the fruit notes and rye grain are still present, but calm down considerably. Light oak notes show their face once again.
Overview: For a Rye Whiskey that is farily high in ABV, this drinks rather easily. Sweet citrcus and caramel notes prevail on the front of the palate with light oak notes on the back end.
