Domaine Rion Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes - 2022 (750ml)
(91-93) points Vinous MediaThe 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru, which contains 30% whole bunches, has a well-defined bouquet with black pepper and undergowth scents permeating the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight lactic/dark chocolate note on the entry from the wood. The stems lend more definition towards the finish that will require 3-4 years to fully harmonise. Very fine. Neal Martin Nov '22
Chambolle wines are above all models of elegance and finesse. Though only medium-colored, they emanate voluminous aromas of raspberry, crystallized strawberries, violets and forest undergrowth. In body, these wines are marked by fine tannins and their associated unctuousness. Light in acid, the wines are notable for their meatiness, and the 1ers Crus are highly concentrated.
Tasting notes
To the eye, the wine is a deep ruby with noticeable sparkles.
On the nose, small red fruits dominate, particularly raspberries and sour cherries.
On the palate, the concentration of this 1er Cru is evident from the first sip. It is full bodies, but possesses the silky tannins for which the appellation is known. A long persistence comes from the subtle minerality which supports the wine and gives it a remarkable complexity.
Drinking tips
Its profile and finesse allow this wine to go well with tasty fowl such as coq au vin, partridge or woodcock.
Serve at around 16C-17C. Will age well for 5-15 years
