2017 Vitkin Grenache Blanc 750ml

2017 Vitkin Grenache Blanc

Medium-bodied, minerals-charged and restrained, actually quite austere I must say, with on the palate more lime and grass as well as pears, white peaches, almonds, lots of stoney minerals as well as hints of basil, mint and white pepper with bracing acidity and a long, saline and refreshing finish. - Winemaker's Notes

Varietal: Grenache Blanc
Grenache Blanc is known for elements of green apple, herb and minerality, along with floral scents and refreshing acidity. The grape thrives in the hot, dry and often windy conditions found in the Southern Rhone Valley.

Country: Israel
The modern era of wine production was kick-started through the investment of Baron Edmond de Rothschild of Lafite, establishing two of the countries largest wineries. With the aid of drip irrigation, necessary because of the distinct lack of rainfall between April and October, the Mediterranean climate provides a hospitable environment for cultivating grapes. The majority of the vineyards are located in the Shomron, Samson and Galilee regions, although vineyards are continuing to pop up in the Upper Galilee and Judean foothills. Although there are 35 commercial wineries and over 200 boutique operations such as Domaine du Castel and Margalit, over 75% of production is controlled by the five largest producers including Carmel, Barkan, and Golan Heights.

Region: Judean Hills

Type: White
White wine is a wine whose color can be pale-yellow, yellow-green, and yellow-gold colored. The wine is produced from a variety of grape varieties. The flavor and color comes from the juice of the grape and sometimes the skin of the grape as well. Interestingly, not all white wine comes from white grapes. Some select red grapes are used as in Champagne.
